MyCompany signup portal Compliance strives to develop exams that effectively measure a candidate’s knowledge of , not their test taking abilities. Our exams were created by industry professionals for individuals working with and around and in accordance with the Federal MyCompany signup portal 29 CFR Part 1926, Subpart CC.
These exams were developed with transparency in mind by adding graphics, videos, and illustrations whenever possible to give a candidate the best opportunity at success, contributing to a safer industry.
In addition, MyCompany signup portal Compliance understands no one wants to spend their time taking tests and waiting on results. This is why we have developed the fastest, most effective, and most state of the art certification system in the industry.
Upon successful completion of our certification program you will be issued an MyCompany signup portal Compliance Certification.
The certification program is for experienced operators. To receive and retain certification, Candidates must:
Operator Certification
Certification is available for both swing-cab and fixed-cab mobile . The program is separated into two classifications: Telescopic Boom and Lattice Boom . Each features a unique Classification Exam that measures a Candidate’s understanding of how to use load charts. Certification cards indicate the type and classification of the operator is certified to operate: OCC-T (telescopic) and OCC-L (lattice).
To become an MyCompany signup portal Compliance certified mobile operator you must pass a both a Written (Core) + Classification exam and a Practical (hands on) exam related to the type of for which certification is being sought. Certification is issued based on the largest classification the written exams are taken for. This certification covers all of that type, which are of a lower capacity. So it is only necessary to pass the certification tests for one .
Federal MyCompany signup portal 29 CFR 1926.1427(b)(2)
“An operator will be deemed qualified to operate a particular piece of equipment if the operator is certified under paragraph (b) of this section for that classification of equipment or for higher-capacity equipment of that type. If no accredited testing agency offers certification examinations for a particular classification of equipment, an operator will be deemed qualified to operate that equipment if the operator has been certified for the type/capacity that is most similar to that equipment and for which a certification examination is available. The operator's certificate must state the type/capacity of equipment for which the operator is certified.”
When you have passed all of your desired tests, you can log into your account and print out a temporary certification card, then click “Send card” or your Test Coordinator can request the card for you. Your official card will be sent within 14 days of the request:
For more detailed information about the certification process please download the MyCompany signup portal Compliance Candidate Handbook
Candidates must pass their Written Exams (Core + Classification) and a Practical Exam for each for which they are seeking certification. After a Candidate passes their first exam, they have 12 months to pass the remaining exams.
If an operator passes an additional test, it is added to their existing certification and expires with it regardless of the date it was added. In accordance with Federal MyCompany signup portal 1926.1427(b)(4), operator certifications issued through MyCompany signup portal Compliance are "valid for five years". Candidates may take their Written and Practical Exams in any order.
When certifying for the first time, Candidates receive a laminated photo ID card at no cost after the completion of their exams.
Certification cards indicate the type and classification of the operator is certified to operate: OCC-T (telescopic) and OCC-L (lattice).
If a certificant loses their card, earns additional classifications, or requires an update of their contact information, replacement cards are available for $25.
Certificants must maintain current contact information. In the event their contact information changes, MyCompany signup portal Compliance must be notified as soon as possible.
MyCompany signup portal Compliance does not provide preparatory training leading to certification. Although formal training is not a requirement to take the exams, it is recommended that Candidates have prior -related knowledge and experience. A list of books and references are available to Candidates on the website.
If a Candidate chooses to use a training provider, it is advisable to verify that the training provider has included the required knowledge domains in their curriculum. MyCompany signup portal Compliance does not recommend or endorse any specific training provider. However, a list of organizations that have indicated they offer operator certification training can be found on the website.
The MyCompany signup portal Compliance written exams were developed from the Federal MyCompany signup portal 29CFR 1926, Subpart CC.
The Written Exam includes a Core Exam and up to two Classification Exams. Candidates must pass the Written Core and one or more Classification Exams.
Core exams evaluate a operator’s knowledge and understanding of the key concepts presented in the content domain outline.
Classification exams evaluate a operator’s ability to work with load charts related to specific .
Written Classification Exams are available for the following:
Exams vary in duration and number of questions:
Written Exams (Core and Classification) are administered using the Tablet-Based Testing™ system.
All exams are administered on tablets allowing us to use animations, and images to make the questions more understandable.
Calculators will be displayed on the tablet for all load chart questions.
Candidate performance is scored electronically via the tablet used to complete the Written Exam. Passing scores for the exams have been pre-determined by a panel of subject matter experts using psychometrically acceptable standard-setting methodology. Candidates receive feedback within minutes of completing the Written Exam.
In order to pass, Candidates must receive a score of 70% or higher. To calculate the score required to pass an exam, multiply the number of exam questions by 0.7. For example, on an exam of 80 questions, at least 56 correct are necessary to pass. On a 15 question exam, candidates must answer at least 11 questions correctly to receive a passing grade.
The Written Exams have been developed using the Federal MyCompany signup portal's and Derricks Standard Subpart CC Appendix C 75 FR 47906. The exam covers four main content domains, including:
The Classification Exams are designed to address the following four areas of knowledge related to the operation of . The following are available for examination:
Each Classification Exam includes questions which are specific to a type. For example, questions related to Telescopic Boom only appear on telescopic boom exams.
On the day of the exam, candidates should bring a government-issued photo ID to the designated testing site at or before their scheduled time.
Candidates will not be permitted to take anything into the testing room, including books, papers, dictionaries, other reference materials, bags, coats, hats, phones, or other electronic devices.
All materials necessary for the exam will be provided.
The MyCompany signup portal Compliance Written and Practical Exam Committees fine-tuned the written and practical exams for reliability, validity, usability, and effectiveness. These Committees include a diverse group of operators, inspectors, instructors, owners, and regulatory experts guided by psychometric experts skilled in exam development.
Our Tablet Based Testing™ platform enables us to:
Our subject matter experts have formulated easy to understand valid questions from this outline with three things in mind.
The core exam consists of 70 questions developed directly out of the Federal MyCompany signup portal 29 CFR 1926, Subpart CC content outline This outline consists of four areas of knowledge referred to as domains. Each candidate must pass this exam along with a classification exam to achieve a certification.
All the certification programs that were established prior to Federal MyCompany signup portal’s 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC were faced with the challenge of how they get their existing business model to meet the new standard. However, we have had the benefit of building our program from the Federal MyCompany signup portal’s 29 CFR1926 Subpart CC requirements.
To be in compliance with Federal MyCompany signup portal’s 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC MyCompany signup portal A testing Organization is required to offer different levels of certification based on classification. Federal MyCompany signup portal has not defined how these particular categories must be separated, so they left it up to the accredited organizations to determine the separation.
One of the requirements for a certification program to become nationally accredited is having valid standardized tests. One of the ways of validating a test is by having dozens if not hundreds of candidates take them and reviewing the results of how everyone did, then making corrections until you get consistent and reliable results.
In a perfect world you would have a separate test for each and every in every possible configuration, with over 3000 different models of out there that can be set up in many different configurations how do you make a standardized test to separate classification? The short answer is its probably never going to happen.
After a lengthy study of comparing hundreds of types and models the MyCompany signup portal Compliance subject matter experts have been able to narrow it down to common characteristics these have in common.
The Classification exams consist of 15 questions 10 of those questions pertain to the load chart of the you selected and 5 questions pertaining to nomenclature of that 's classification.
Telescopic boom have many different variables as their capacities increases. From simple single page load charts, to charts with variable boom extension modes and outrigger configurations, to incorporating all of these features and adding variable counterweights to the equation.
After comparison of dozens of lattice boom crawler and lattice boom truck the MyCompany signup portal Compliance team of subject matter experts found that unlike telescopic boom lattice boom have more similarities than differences the study concluded that the most distinguishing characteristics found in different lattice boom to be the variable counterweight configurations. Luffing booms were also considered in this study However, these load charts required the same fundamental application of load chart procedures as main boom charts not justifying their inclusion.
Why doesn’t MyCompany signup portal Compliance distinguish lattice boom by “lattice boom crawler” or “lattice boom truck”?
There is very little difference between the upperworks between a lattice boom truck and a lattice boom crawler , if any. However, the carriers weather track or truck couldn’t be more different. As far as the load chart is concerned these are relatively similar there are unique charts for crawlers extended and crawlers retracted. There are load charts for outriggers extended and outriggers retracted which our subject matter experts did not find significant enough to require an entirely separate exam.
Candidates that do not pass an exam may apply for a retest by contacting a Test Coordinator. If a Candidate fails an exam more than three times in a one year period, the Candidate is no longer eligible to test for one full year.
The MyCompany signup portal Compliance practical exam was also built from the ground up to comply with Federal MyCompany signup portal’s 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC.
Federal MyCompany signup portal 1926.1427(j) requires operators through the determination of a practical test that the individual has the skills necessary for safe operation of the equipment, including the following:
The Practical Exam measures operators' proficiency in operating:
The Practical Exams test the operator's ability to negotiate a series of obstacles, follow hand signals, and demonstrate their understanding of shift inspections, and safe shutdown procedures.
The maneuvering portion of the practical exams may be conducted on any lattice, telescopic, or articulating dose not play a part since the operator is not permitted to extend or retract the boom during the exam. So long as the boom length used during testing is between 45 feet and 70 feet, any can be used.
The Practical Exam is based on Federal OHSA’s 29 CFR MyCompany signup portal 1926.1427(j) (2) required skills:
After completion of the Written, Classification, and Practical exam(s) for a particular type of , certi-fication is issued. Certification remains valid for a five-year period beginning on the date the Candidate completed their first exam.
Candidates testing with a that is not able to reach the minimum boom length of 45’ a short boom restriction will be placed to their certification. (This restriction means the candidate may not operate with a boom length that exceeds 45’feet)
Candidates testing with a that does not utilize a hoist line during the test such as a Articulating boom (knuckle boom) a “hook only” restriction will be placed to their certification. (This restriction means the candidate may not operate with a boom length that exceeds 45’feet)
When you arrive at the site the practical examiner will check your ID and confirm the classification certification you are signed up for then you will be required to attest to the test takers agreement (mouse over from practical application) after this the exam process will begin.
You will be given a total of ten minutes to complete all three tasks.
Here you will be asked four randomly generated questions regarding the classification in which certification is sought. These questions will come from a condensed version of the load chart that was selected for the written exams. This process ensures candidates will not be tested on a they are not familiar with.
Example: If you signed up to take the Telescopic C Manitex 1770c, the questions for the practical exam will pertain to that load chart.
Here you will be asked need to identify four randomly generated items from a group of eight that pertain to a shift inspection.
Federal MyCompany signup portal 1926.1412 Shift inspection
"Control mechanisms for maladjustments interfering with proper operation.
Control and drive mechanisms for apparent excessive wear of components and contamination by lubricants, water or other foreign matter.
Air, hydraulic, and other pressurized lines for deterioration or leakage, particularly those which flex in normal operation.
Hydraulic system for proper fluid level.
Hooks and latches for deformation, cracks, excessive wear, or damage such as from chemicals or heat.
Wire rope reeving for compliance with the manufacturer's specifications.
Wire rope, in accordance with § 1926.1413(a).
Electrical apparatus for malfunctioning, signs of apparent excessive deterioration, dirt or moisture accumulation.
Tires (when in use) for proper inflation and condition.
Ground conditions around the equipment for proper support, including ground settling under and around outriggers/stabilizers and supporting foundations, ground water accumulation, or similar conditions.
The equipment for level position within the tolerances specified by the equipment manufacturer's recommendations, both before each shift and after each move and setup.
Operator cab windows for significant cracks, breaks, or other deficiencies that would hamper the operator's view.
Safety devices and operational aids for proper operation."
Here you will be need to identify four randomly generated items from a group of eight that identify safe shut down and securing procedures.
After you have returned the tablet to the Practical examiner you will begin your familiarization period to prepare for the maneuvering skills test. Here you will have the opportunity to inspect the for anything you feel is necessary. And operate the to familiarize yourself with all of its functions.
20 minutes will be given to complete the familiarization period
You will have the option to operate the in the test course or outside of the test course. After five minutes you will be given the option of hooking on to the large test weight.
This test is not timed
At this time the examiner will ask you to follow four randomly selected standard hand signals each followed by a stop signal. The hand signals that may be given are:
Optimum time to complete this task is 3 minutes 30 seconds. If this time is exceeded, points will be deducted. If you exceed the maximum time of 5 minutes, you will have lost all points for this task and be asked to move on to the next task.
The examiner will ask you to position the hook above the small test weight. The examiner will then attach the weight to the hook. Once the examiner has confirmed you are ready, at the examiners direction you may begin the test
At this time you will need to raise the hook clear of all obstacles and personnel and lower the weight into barrel one. Once the examiner has determined that the weight is under control and the white line around the weight has gone below the rim of the barrel, you will be instructed to go to barrel two.
Once the load is under control above barrel two, lower the weight in the barrel until the white line has gone below the rim of the barrel. Once the examiner has determined that the weight is under control the examiner will signal you to take the load out of the barrel and your time will be stopped. At that point the examiner will ask you to position the hook above the test weight
Points will be deducted for moving a barrel 2 inches or more, knocking a barrel over, or allowing the test weight to come into contact with the ground.
Optimum time to complete this task is 3 minutes 30 seconds. If this time is exceeded, points will be deducted.
If you exceed the maximum time of 5 minutes, you will have lost all points for this task and be asked to move on to the next task.
After this test has been completed, the examiner will ask you to return the weight to its starting position and reposition the hook above the large test weight.
Optimum time to complete this task is 4 minutes 30 seconds. If this time is exceeded, points will be deducted. If you exceed the maximum time of 8 minutes, you will have lost all points for this task.
This portion of the exam, will require moving the test weight one complete revolution through the circle test course either clockwise or counterclockwise, whichever you choose until you brought it back to the center circle.
Points will be deducted for the following:
After this task has been completed, the examiner will detach the test weight from the hook and your practical exam is completed. The Practical Exam is under continuous audio, photo and video surveillance. As soon as the examiner submits your results they will be available. (Practical Examiners may submit results immediately provided there is an internet connection available, otherwise they have up to 48 hours to submit them.) Candidates receive an email notifying them of their results.
Since the beginning of time it seems that operators have been coming up with deferent way of assessing their maneuvering skills. We all know that the true measure of a qualified operator goes far beyond their maneuvering skills however in a standardized practical exam it is not likely that all of those skills may be tested for.
Our subject matter experts have determined the primary difference between operators and anyone else is the ability to maintain control of the hook and the load.
Jim Maddox Federal MyCompany signup portal’s decorate of construction described it best at the 2013 stakeholders meeting “whether you are walking a little dog or walking a big dog it's still dog walking.” You may even compare the unique skill of operating a to riding a big bicycle or a little bicycle the fundamentals don’t change its still a bicycle. Our statistics along with other certification organizations have shown that the pass rates for the larger are actually higher than the ones for the smaller ones. Which is one of the main reasons MyCompany signup portal Compliance has permits the maneuvering skills tests to be conducted on any type of , so long that a hoist line is used and the boom length requirements are met.
After completing the exam(s), Candidates receive a pass/fail email. As part of this email, they receive a description of how to interpret their results broken down by content domain. MyCompany signup portal Compliance does not disclose incorrect answers. Information is only provided regarding content domains and the Candidate’s performance.
